Our Purpose

Crossroads Christian Church exists to exalt God and His Son, Jesus, through:

Our source of authority in all religious matters is that which is found in the inspired scriptures, because we believe the Bible to be the divinely inspired and protected Word of God.

We believe that the Bible is the only rule of faith and practice, and that where the Bible has spoken, there must be unity, in matters of opinion there must be liberty, but in all things, there must be love.

We do not claim to be the only Christians, but we seek to give every person the opportunity to become a Christian only.

History

Crossroads Christian Church is the only independent non-denominational Christian Church in the Helena area. The church began meeting in private homes in 1990, then shifted to meeting in various motels. At one point, Crossroads purchased a church building in Helena, but the Lord led us to let go of it and resume meeting in local motel buildings.

In February of 1997, the congregation called our current minister and his wife to assist us in ministry. In the spring of 1998, the congregation purchased 4.5 acres of land about 1 mile east of the York Junction on Canyon Ferry Road, a very busy highway (Lewis and Clark County has recorded vehicle traffic at 10,000 vehicles per day). Canyon Ferry Road has since been straightened and widened as far as the church's property line, and it will be widened and improved sometime within the next few years.

After much labor and prayers, Crossroads is in the process of building a church complex. The first phase was a 50' x 100' multipurpose building. The second phase will be the addition of a Christian education wing, followed by our sanctuary. All of the building locations are "grandfathered," and the county and the state have both already approved their locations. In the fall of 2000, a pressure-dosed sewer system was installed to accomodate 200 persons; the well was improved, and the church excavated for phase one. In March 2001, the State of Montana issued a building permit, and the work was begun. In October 2001, the footing and foundation was completed. Aside from electrical and plumbing work, the construction has all been accomplished by the congregation and volunteers.

The multipurpose building now stands as a fully functional facility; it includes a gymnasium, a kitchen, a nursery, men's and women's restrooms, and an office. We're currently working on finishing off our outside fire escape staircase in order to make the second floor Sunday School classrooms operational.

Next phase: Christian education wing!
